Leighty’s WWE Main Event Review 2.27.25

-Wanted to make sure I got this done before Elimination Chamber. Let’s get to it!
-Announce Team: Blake Howard and Vic Joseph
-Taped: Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, OH
Natalya vs. Alba Fyre
-This is Nattie’s 5th appearance in this show in 2025. We have seen this match-up before on this show, but for this year at least it was Nattie vs. Dawn a few times. Lockup and Nattie controls the arm as the announcers talk about each woman’s path to WrestleMania. Alba lands a forearm to the back of the beck and then goes ground and pound. She drops a knee to the face for a two count. They end up on the floor and Nattie knocks Alba on her ass before sending her back into the ring. Alba rolls to the floor again to sucker Nattie to follow and she catches her with a clothesline. Back in the ring she gets a two count. Alba goes to work on the arm and elbow as she gets a hammerlock. Nattie forces a break so Alba pounds her down to the mat and then stomps on her face. Cool! Nattie avoids a move and Alba spills to the floor. Baseball slide from Nattie! Right hands back in the ring and then a clothesline from Nattie. She gets another one and then a release German Suplex. Sharpshooter is avoided and Alba gets a roll-up for two. Superkick from Alba gets two! Alba hooks a submission with her leg around Nattie’s neck. Nattie forces a break, but misses the discus clothesline. Alba gets a roll-up, but Nattie rolls with her and transitions into the Sharpshooter for the submission at 4:52.
Winner: Natalya via pin at 4:52
-This was a solid Main Event match. I like what I have seen from Alba the last few weeks. Nattie continues her role as Miss Main Event. **1/4
-We go back a few weeks on RAW where Dakota Kai earned an Intercontinental Title Match against Lyra Valkyria.
-Commercials!
-Back to RAW where Lyra Valkyria successfully defended her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Dakota Kai. They shake hands after the match, but here’s Ivy Nile and she runs down Dakota and then puts the beats on Lyra. It should be a fine program.
-Back to SmackDown as The Rock returned to announce WrestleMania 42 will be in New Orleans. Sadly, that wasn’t all as he called out Cody Rhodes and then babbled on about wanting to make Cody his Champion and he wants Cody’s soul. I really hope this injection of Rock hasn’t thrown the Mania plans in the trash. Based off last year, I have hope and some trust in the fact The Rock can read a room and knows what he is doing.
-Peacock Commercials!
-Recap of John Cena naming himself as an entrant in The Elimination Chamber so he can win, go to Mania, and become World Champion for a 17th time.
-Back to RAW as Seth Rollins interrupts Cody Rhodes. Seth tries to talk sense into Cody and reminds him of what they went through with The Rock last year. Seth questions of The Title is becoming a burden for Cody, as it wouldn’t be a burden for him. Cody brings up Seth’s questionable path including his turning on The Shield and joining The Authority, but he does note Seth was the MVP of WrestleMania XL. Seth tells Cody he is coming for his Title.
-Peacock commercials!
Grayson Waller (w/ Austin Theory) vs. Dragon Lee
-In a rarity, they let Lee wear The Speed Championship to the ring. This could be fun and is giving me 205 Live flashbacks! Lockup and Waller throws Lee across the ring and celebrates. He grabs an arm but Lee rolls to counter. Waller shows up with a series of kip ups. Lee lands a chop while controlling the hands and then bounces off the ropes into an arm-drag and then a dropkick. He goes to fly, but Theory grabs the leg. Lee with a head scissors and then lands a kick from the apron. He goes to spring in, but Theory pulls him off the ropes. Waller with a baseball slide and then a clothesline on the floor as we head to a break at 2:00.
-60 seconds Peacock commercials!
-WrestleMania: New Orleans commercial! They sure don’t waste time hyping the event.
-Back at 3:37 with Lee lands punches to the ribs. Theory traps him in the corner and gets a forearm smash to the back of the head. That leads to a neckbreaker for two! Heavy whip to the corner and more forearms from Waller. He goes ground and pound and gets a two count. Lee snaps off a ran from a fireman’s carry. He hits a superkick as Waller was upside down in the corner. Running kick in the corner. Theory pulls Waller to the floor, so Lee hits a tope con hilo. Basement dropkick in the corner gets two! Lee heads up again, but Theory rolls out of the way. Waller gets a sit-out powerbomb for two! Lee low bridges Waller to the floor and then catches him with a knee as he looked to come in with the cutter. Theory gets decked off the apron. Waller goes up top with Lee, but gets knocked down into the Tree of Woe. Double Stomp from Lee and Operation Dragon finishes for the pin at 8:25.
Winner: Dragon Lee via pin at 8:25
-Fun match between these two as expected. I am all for Waller and Theory on this show as much as possible going forward as I have always been a fan. Everyone here could be doing more, but I will take what I can get. ***
-Recap of the ongoing Jade Cargill mystery attacker angle. Seems it was Liv and Raquel. So, case closed and no need to thinking of anyone else.
-Peacock commercials!
-Video package on Owens vs. Zayn: Unsanctioned! They are going to have a blast in Toronto and they deserve that moment.
-Jackie Redmond has a sit-down interview with Sami Zayn. Again, they are going to steal the show later tonight.
-Back to RAW as we have new Women’s Tag Team Champions with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez ending the reign of Bianca and Naomi. I assume this frees up Naomi to win The Chamber and face Rhea and also have Naomi turn on her at some point to reveal she attacked Jade. Now, I guess the better option would be for Bianca to be the one that attacked Jade and she turns, which makes her heel heading into Mania against Rhea. Interested to see where they go with it. Liv and Raquel as Tag Champions works as well.
-Thanks for reading! Enjoy Elimination Chamber!
