Mark Briscoe is set to have his first singles match against Chris Jericho at AEW WrestleDream, and he recently spoke about having not previously faced The Learning Tree. Briscoe will defend the ROH World Championship against Jericho at Saturday’s PPV in their first one-on-one match despite both being long-time veterans of the industry. Briscoe spoke with Fightful for a new interview and was asked about not having previously faced Jericho.

“To me, it’s attributed to the beauty of professional wrestling, how something like that can be the case,” Briscoe said. “Guys who have been doing it at the highest level, at the same exact time, but never crossed paths. There are so many different flavors. Pro wrestling is different strokes for different folks. You got lucha libre, strong style, death match wrestling, everything pro wrestling is.”

Briscoe continued, “The beauty of pro wrestling is that it’s the greatest variety show in the world. It is cool where a guy like me and a guy like Jericho, when our paths finally do cross. We’re almost there. It’s going to be wild.”

AEW WrestleDream takes place on Saturday and airs live on PPV.
