More Backstage Details On Nixon Newell & Miranda Alize Leaving AEW Collision, Bryan Danielson Involvement, Newell’s Past Issues

More details are coming out about Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize’s leaving AEW Collision before their scheduled match as well as their debut match there. As you surely know, Newell and Alize left Saturday’s taping without doing their booked match against Anna Jay and Tay. The two reportedly took issue with the three minute time budget for the match.

The two spoke on a Twitch stream on Sunday to give their side. Newell and Alize said there was no bad blood and things were fine between all involved. Fightful Select reports that several AEW talent and staff reached out to them about the situation after the couple’s stream to share more information.

According to the report, sources stated that Bryan Danielson spoke with the two on November 1st. He apparently “wasn’t thrilled” about the way their match against Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir went. As previously noted, Newell was reportedly unhappy about the way that match was put together. Part of the issue was whether Bayne would sell for them. Bayne’s frustration shown during the quick match was legitimate.

The site notes that several of AEW and ROH’s women expressed frustration to them, saying they would have loved to get three minutes on Collision. Most people who reached out noted that the situation wouldn’t have come out if Alize hand’t gone to social media. Alize posted to Twitter before the show had begun, writing:

“We have SOOOOOOOO much to say ……………”

She then retweeted criticism of their booking. Sources noted that even if things ended fine when Newell and Alize left, that changed things. Several AEW and ROH talent tried to reach out at that point.

The report goes on to add some context to Newell’s having said earlier this year that she had trouble getting bookings. There was word that Newell had talks with a company after saying that. The report does not note which company, but says according to “people of influence” in the promotion the talks didn’t go well. The company changed their mind about booking her because of some of the things she was asking for.

In addition, an independent company noted that earlier this year they had Newell set to interfere during a match to set up a future tag team bout. However, Newell left during the show without informing the talent. As a result, when the time for the interfeence happened, she just was not there.

Fightful notes they tried to reach out to Newell for further comment today but did not hear back.
