In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (via SportsKeeda), there was speculation that WWE may end the brand split in 2019 in order to keep the deal with FOX, as there is concern FOX could back out due to ratings.

WWE and FOX signed a five-year deal in May worth $1.025 billion for Smackdown Live to air starting October 2019. Officials are worried that FOX could back out of a long-term deal due to current ratings. The speculation is that if that happened, WWE would panic and end the brand split. However, details on the contract are unknown and it’s said that Fox likely couldn’t back out of a deal worth that much so easily. The worst case scenario, according to the report, is that Smackdown would be moved to FS1 if it can’t compete on Fridays.
