Rey Mysterio Explains The Biggest Thing He Learned When He Joined WWE

On the latest episode of Six Feet Under, Rey Mysterio explained how he adapted his game once he reached WWE, getting feedback from agents and from Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero that taught him to slow down and tell a better story. The Undertaker set it up by recalling the doubts about Rey’s size. You can check out some highlights below:

The Undertaker on being able to sell

“I think you were so used to doing all the incredible moves, and then you really realized, dude, I have to sell my ass off to get these people on my side — and the key to doing that is being able to sell, but never die. I think that’s to me, and correct me if I’m wrong, I mean that is when the fan base, like, ‘dude, this is somebody that we can really get behind.’”

Rey Mysterio on getting input from Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and Undertaker:

“You’re absolutely right. Right before WCW was bought out, maybe a year before, is when I lost my mask to Nash and Hall, and I was already working a little bit more with the bigger guys. I had an opportunity to work with Bam Bam Bigelow, who was awesome, and I got a feel of what it felt like to be in there with the bigger dudes — how to sell and move around and be creative with my offense. But it wasn’t until I came to WWE that I really started getting feedback from the agents and the people I was working with. You included. Kurt Angle and Eddie would always pull me aside. It was a learning process because everything was so fast in WCW. So fast-paced, because we really didn’t have a direction, they didn’t, they wouldn’t tell us. It made my work much easier and more believable.”

Mysterio recently spoke about mulling retirement.
