Ric Flair Takes Issue With Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay Comparisons to His Matches With Ricky Steamboat

Ric Flair is interjecting in a recent debate. Recent comments by Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker sparked debate over Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay for the AEW World Title at last weekend’s All In: London event. That sparked comparisons between that match and Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair, who wrestled an iconic trilogy of matches in 1989.

Now, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is chiming in with his own two cents. He wrote earlier today via his X account, “No one has more respect for @kennyomegamanx and @willospreay than me! But to compare them to Steamboat and I is like comparing the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean! When they have a great match 300 times a year and 200 hour broadways, get back to me! Until then, there is no problem with being number two. You are great young talent, but let’s get serious, kids! You should only hope that you have people talking about your matches 37 years later! Wooooo!”

Darius Rucker is a noted wrestling fan. At this year’s WWE SummerSlam, Rucker performed the National Anthem for the premium live event. Meanwhile, at AEW All In: London, Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega to win his first AEW World Championship.

Darius with all due respect @WillOspreay and @KennyOmegamanX just had the greatest match of all time https://t.co/KBq9HrE9vU
