Sami Zayn Retains Undisputed Title On WWE Smackdown After CM Punk Interferes

Sami Zayn beat Kevin Owens to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship on this week’s WWE Smackdown thanks to CM Punk. Friday night’s show featured a main event of Zayn defending his championship against Owens, a match that was made at the start of the show after Owens demanded a shot against Zayn and Nick Aldis agreed to the notion.
The 16 minute match went to chaos toward the end, much like Zayn’s win last week. Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae got involved, trying to interfere on Zayn’s behalf in retribution for Owens stunning Gargano in the opening segment. Punk ended up coming down and grabbing the title, which he waffled Owens with. Zayn covered but Owens kicked out, and Zayn then hit a Helluva Kick for the pinfall.
After the match, Punk grabbed Zayn and attacked him, hitting a GTS to end the show. You can see clips from the WWE Smackdown match below.
Zayn’s title reign is now seven days long, having beaten Punk to claim the championship on last week’s WWE Smackdown.
