Shane McMahon Rumored to Have Interest in Appearing in AEW, Tony Khan Responds

– During this week’s edition of the Grilling JR podcast, cohost Conrad Thompson revealed that a mutual friend of his and Jim Ross revealed that Shane McMahon “has reached out to wrestlers on the AEW roster” about discussing McMahon appearing in AEW. The rumor of Shane McMahon going to AEW was addressed by Dave Meltzer in this week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

According to the report, people on both sides noted they never heard anything close to that, and others stated they were being asked about the rumor all day while hearing nothing except what Conrad Thompson said about the matter. The report also notes that people on the AEW side have heard nothing about McMahon appearing in the company, or only heard the things Thompson has said while not hearing anything else independently.

Tony Khan stated to The Wrestling Observer on Shane McMahon, “I’ve never met him or talked to him in my life.” One individual informed the Observer that McMahon had a conversation with a former WWE talent who now works for AEW. During the chat, McMahon reportedly said something akin to, “Can you imagine if I walked out there on Dynamite?”

The conversation was reportedly equated to two people chatting rather than McMahon actually trying to formally pitch an idea, and it was said to have not been a serious pitch or conversation. This could possibly explain the rumor that popped up from Thompson on Grilling JR and why none of the key members of AEW had ever heard about the topic before Thompson brought it up on the podcast.

Shane McMahon was in attendance at the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Induction Ceremony earlier this year.
