Sony Pictures Reveals First Image from Upcoming Jumanji Sequel Featuring The Rock

As previously reported, the next installment of the Jumanji film franchise, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, recently started filming this month. Sony Pictures has now released the first image from the film, featuring the returning cast members (see below).

The new image features Johnson as Xander Bravestone, Kevin Hart as Franklin Finbar, Jack Black as Sheldon Oberon, and Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse. The upcoming sequel is currently filming and due out later next year.

Other returning cast members from the previous two Jumanji films include Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blaine, and Morgan Turner. New cast members include Brittany O’Grady and Burn Gorman.

Jake Kasdan returns to direct the fourth Jumanji movie from a script by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. It’s based on the 1981 picture book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg. Robin Williams starred in the first live-action film adaptation of the book, released in 1995.

The Rock later joined the franchise with a cinematic reboot in 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The film was a massive hit for Sony, grossing $404.5 million domestically and $962 million worldwide. The 2019 sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, later made $304 million domestically and over $800 million worldwide.

The sequel to the 2019 hit film Jumanji: The Next Level does not yet have an official title. It’s due out in theaters on December 11, 2026.
