Tony D’Angelo Says WWE NXT Officials Have Spoken To Him About Not Making It to the Main Roster Yet

During a recent appearance on Busted Open After Dark, WWE NXT Superstar and former NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo discussed not yet making to the main roster. He noted that NXT Executive Producer Shawn Michaels, lead writer Johnny Russo, and head coach Matt Bloom have all assured him that its due to circumstances and not because he’s done anything wrong. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):

Tony D’Angelo on Whether He Thinks He’s Not on the Main Roster for Doing Something Wrong

“I mean, yeah. I feel like that’s a natural human reaction to see somebody kind of bypass ya, but I also think that it’s out of my control, to an extent. Look, I’m always gonna go out there and give 150 percent. I’m never gonna half-ass anything, so that’s all I can do, and I can continue to learn and progress and in an upward motion, but this business, it’s unlike any other business. Some people have what they’re looking for right now, and it’s just, like, a circumstance thing.”

On NXT Staff Speaking To Him on the Topic

“Johnny Russo, Shawn Michaels, Matt Bloom, they’re all assuring me that, ‘It’s not because you’re doing bad work, or it’s not because you’re not ready’ or any of that. It’s just a timing thing. They’re looking for something that I didn’t fit that mold of right now, so, and this person might have came in, maybe doesn’t have as much experience as I do, but it’s exactly what they were looking for. So, I can’t really be upset at that.”

Tony D’Angelo competed against Myles Borne on this week’s edition of NXT TV. He beat Borne to earn a future shot at the WWE NXT Championship, currently held by Grayson Waller.
