Trick Williams’ Controversial T-Shirt Removed From WWE Shop

WWE United States Champion Trick Williams, or rather a T-shirt for the wrestler, was the subject of controversy across social media yesterday. WWE Shop released a new shirt for Williams referencing his white and gold trip boots, which he refers to as his “lemon pepper steppers.”

However, the shirt became the subject of controversy for its use of imagery of chicken wings surrounding the boots (see below). The shirt became viral, and it was accused of racism and negative stereotypical connotations. The t-shirt has since been yanked from WWEShop.com and is no longer available (h/t Fightful).

Trick Williams is riding high on his career at the moment. At WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event earlier this month, he beat Baron Corbin to regain the WWE US Title. On last week’s Friday Night SmackDown, he won a Money in the Bank qualifying bout against Randy Orton and Rey Fenix, advancing him to the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

At WWE Money in the Bank, Williams will go up against Bron Breakker, Penta, Je’Von Evans, and two other Superstars still to be determined for the Money in the Bank briefcase. The event is scheduled for October 10 and will be held at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
