Note on Why Bang Bang Gang Stopped Using ‘Bullet Club Gold’ Name in AEW

A latest report sheds light on why Bang Bang Gang stopped going by Bullet Club Gold in All Elite Wrestling.
In April 2023, Jay White made his AEW debut and joined forces with Juice Robinson. They later declared themselves the first two members of Bullet Club Gold. In the weeks that followed, Austin and Colten Gunn also joined the group. They subsequently nicknamed themselves the “Bang Bang Gang.”
However, in mid-2024, the group silently switched to Bang Bang Gang as its primary name. During the recent Fightful Select Q&A session, a fan asked Sean Ross Sapp the real reason behind the move.
Sapp said that the move had to do with the name being NJPW’s intellectual property. He added that now that NJPW has completely stopped using the Bullet Club name in any capacity, it was the right call on AEW’s part to rename the group.
Bang Bang Gang added a new member to the group in the form of Ace Austin last September. The group has recently been strengthened with the return of leader Jay White, who showed up at Forbidden Door 2026 after a year-plus hiatus and attacked David Finlay, helping Cope and Cage retain the AEW World Tag Team Title against The Dogs.
