Sami Zayn and Neville (AEW’s PAC) were bitter rivals in NXT, but there may have been plans to come together as a tag team called The Offbeats.
Following PAC’s sudden death on Sunday, WWE producer Ryan Katz took to Facebook to share an unreleased vignette of Neville and Zayn marching to the beat of their own drum.
He also wrote a heartwarming post, which read:
“Pac/Neville was one of my favorite wrestlers, and I really liked him too. We shot this video the day after he had his front teeth knocked out at an NXT taping. He came walking through the curtain, pulled out his mouth guard, and the teeth came out too! But… He didn’t want to cancel the shoot. Such unexpected news, and so sad. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and fans. Condolences and my deepest sympathy. Say hello to Dream for me.”
Check out his post below:
Zayn and Neville feuded over the NXT Championship in 2013 and 2014. The seeds were sown after Neville defeated Sami in November 2013 to become the number-one contender for the NXT Title. In February 2014, at NXT Arrival, Neville captured the championship from Bo Dallas.
Later that year, at NXT TakeOver: Fatal Four-Way, Neville retained the title against Tyson Kidd, Tyler Breeze, and Zayn. A subsequent singles match saw Neville fake a knee injury and roll up Zayn for a pinfall victory. However, Zayn finally got his revenge when he defeated the British wrestler in a Title vs. Career Match at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution.
