WWE has reportedly terminated Ridge Holland’s contract before its expiration date due to his recent comments on social media. As previously noted, WWE chose not to renew Holland’s contract and it was set to expire on November 14th. Holland is currently dealing with an injury and while WWE was paying for his surgery and physical therapy, their decision not to renew his deal earned the company some criticism online.
Holland posted to Twitter on Wednesday saying he “felt hung out to dry” by WWE and adding:
Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal. Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company.
Now, Fightful Select has confirmed with sources in the company that Holland’s deal has been terminated. According to the word in WWE, they company considered his recent posts a breach. The report adds it was “strongly suggested” Holland won’t be paid for the remaining nine days of his deal.
The report notes that WWE has to continue providing rehab to Holland, as they would likely open themselves up to legal action otherwise.
Holland has yet to comment on this new development.
