Pro Wrestling Guerrilla – Battle of Los Angeles 2007 Night 2 Results

BoLA Night 2 Results, luckily the Armory was exactly 2 degrees cooler than the previous night…maybe only 92 F.

Show began promptly at 8:20 with no opening promos or further ado.

1. Opening Match – Ronin and TJ Perkins Defeated Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson and Bino Gambino by pinfall via Ronin DVD on Bino. Not a very good opener and it came off very flat compared to last night’s opening match. *1/2

2. 1st Round Match-up for BoLA ’07 – CIMA Defeated Human Tornado w/ Candice LaRaevia by pinfall, via Schwein. Candice got involved during many spots during the match and seemingly helped cost Tornado the win on purpose. Human Tornado was in control for most of the match until the interference. Fairly decent match that got a little too bogged down due to the outside interference towards the end. ***

3. 1st Round Match-up for BoLA ’07 – SHINGO Defeated Scott Lost by pinfall, via Last Falconry. Very good match which lived up to “sleeper match of the tournament” status that many had predicted. Very good back and forth action that had a few false finishes. Lost proved he could hold his own with the Dragon Gate wrestlers with no problems. ***3/4

4. 1st Round Match-up for BoLA ’07 – Necro Butcher Defeated Kevin Steen by pinfall, via roll up. Not the match many were expecting as this was for the most part a straight wrestling match with Steen working over Necro’s leg and Necro getting only a few well placed punches in before the flash finish. Not a brawl at all and somewhat disappointing. **

5. 1st Round Match-up for BoLA ’07 – Nigel McGuinness Defeated Davey Richards by pinfall, via Jawbreaker Lariat. Good match which was partially comedy in the beginning and turned into a much stiffer contest towards the middle and end. Nigel hit several lariats during the match with Davey relying mainly on kicks and forearms. Davey did in fact wrestle part of the match with his tights pulled down and butt exposed after some odd interaction between Nigel, Davey, and Nigel’s girlfriend. ***1/4

6. 1st Round Match-up for BoLA ’07 – El Generico Defeated Tony Kozina by pinfall, via Brainbustaaa. Decent match which was never fully given a chance by the crowd until the very end when Kozina picked up several close 2 counts on roll ups. Fairly sloppy towards the beginning and middle, but picked up at the end. **

7. 1st Round Match-up for BoLA ’07 – Dragon Kid Defeated Susumu Yokosuka by pinfall, via Springboard Huracanrana. Great match from these two as they have had a long and storied feud in Dragon Gate over the years. Pacing was fairly slow but really picked up at the end with several false finishes. This was the match that the crowd seemed most into all night. Very clean match with each wrestler hitting all their signature spots and Susu picking up 2 very close 2 counts at the end before falling to a springboard Huracanrana by D-Kid. MotN. ****1/4

Attendance had fallen off slightly from previous night at around 400 people. Night 3 will feature 6 2nd round matches, 3 semi-final matches, the Finals and more non-tournament matches as well. Bell time is advertised as 8:00 pm at the Burbank Armory at Burbank.
