The latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A had a fan question regarding restrictions on ring gear in WWE. The fan question explained that referees used to check wrestlers’ gloves, boots, and wrist tape for weapons and/or foreign objects, but it noted that Rhea Ripley’s old boots also used to be wrapped in chains, which referees accepted.
The user also noted that some of Jade Cargill’s ring gear appears to be made of metal chains as well, saying that “logically, it doesn’t make sense.” Sean Ross Sapp answered that there are officially restrictions on ring gear in WWE. He added WWE recently instituted rules that a wrestler’s ring gear has to be approved before it’s used.
It’s unknown to what extent there is for the gear, or if any talent is exempt from the rules, but there are said to be existing restrictions on a given wrestler’s ring attire.
