A new report has a few details on what the early creative plans were for the WWE King of the Ring tournament. The tournament officially kicked off on Monday’s episode of Raw, as Oba Femi won a first-round match. The tournament is set to conclude at WWE Night of Champions, with the winner getting a World Title match at WWE SummerSlam.
According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, the winner of the tournament had not been decided at the point that the brackets were announced at the WWE Clash in Italy post-show. According to sources, there were “at least” three names in consideration to win the tournament, though there is no word on which names those are.
With Femi having advanced to the semifinals on this week’s show, the remaining first-round WWE King of the Ring matches are as follows:
* Rey Mysterio vs. Bron Breakker vs. Trick Williams vs. Damian Priest.
* Seth Rollins vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Tama Tonga vs. Ricky Saints.
* Jey Uso vs. LA Knight vs. Royce Keys vs. Finn Bálor.
Rollins vs. Evans vs. Saints vs. Tonga is set for next week’s WWE Raw. There is no word as of now when the other matches will take place.
