Scott Derrickson Exits Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness Directing Chair
Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness has lost its director in Scott Derrickson. Derrickson took to Twitter on Thursday to announce that he has agreed with Marvel to part ways in terms of directing on the sequel, citing creative differences. Derrickson, who directed the first film, will remain on board as an executive producer.
Derrickson was announced as directing the film when it was made officially at San Diego Comic Con last year. The film is reportedly set to be a more horror-tinged film, and will include Elizabeth Olson’s Scarlet Witch.
Marvel issued a statement to Variety noting that the film’s May 7th, 2021 release date will not be impacted. It read:
“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.
