Dermot Mulroney Joins Scream 6 Cast
Dermot Mulroney is going toe-to-toe with Ghostface, signing on for a role in Scream 6. THR reports that the My Best Friend’s Wedding and Umma star has been cast in the upcoming horror sequel. The site reports that he will be playing a cop, following in the footsteps of many dead police officers that came before (and also Patrick Dempsey, whose Mark Kincaid is still alive as of now).
Mulroney joins a cast that includes Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, and Hayden Panettiere, all of whom are reprising their roles from previous entries. The new film will see directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return, once again directing from a script by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The film is set for release on March 31st, 2023.
The new film — which will reportedly see Sam (Barrera), Mindy (Brown), Chad (Gooding) and Tara (Ortega) as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter — comes off the box office success of Scream, which grossed $81.6 million domestically and $138.9 million worldwide against a budget of just $24 million.
