Joe Hendry has hopes of John Cena and Eminem separately appearing in TNA, and he recently spoke about his attempts to make those hopes reality. Hendry said earlier this week that should he beat Nic Nemeth for the title at Bound For Glory on Saturday, he will invite Cena to appear in TNA. He also invited Eminem to appear at Bound For Glory in Detroit earlier this month. Hendry spoke with Steven Muelhausen for Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown and spoke about his attempts to make waves with those invitations, and you can see highlights below (courtesy of Fightful):

On his hopes to invite Cena to TNA: “John was the first professional wrestler that I ever spoke to. In 2013, I had a tryout and I thanked him in person for that interaction because it was a big part in inspiring me to actually go on to do this. So for me, personally, it will be a really full-circle moment, and that is the dream match that I’m going for. Also, I think it would be something that the fans would love. I think, also just the timing of it. If you think about it, what were the odds of me getting with Kurt Angle when I was a trainee, starting first day, in 2013, and wrestling him in 2016? I threw it out there into the universe and made it happen. So why wouldn’t I do the same again and try to do the same thing again? I can’t let John Cena retire without me trying to make that happen. If he’s doing a run of matches, I owe it to myself, I owe it to my fan base, and I owe it to what I think is best for the professional wrestling business.”

On the potential benefit of the crossover appearance: “I just think that that will be so good for everybody, and it’s the dream match for me. I think it’s very difficult to argue against John Cena as the greatest of all time. This being his last year, how cool would it be if John Cena crossed over and appeared in a TNA wrestling ring or challenged for a TNA World Championship? We’re in an era where absolutely anything can happen. TNA and NXT have an active working relationship, so it’s not impossible. Anything is possible when you believe. All I need to do is know that I gave it my best shot, and that’s what I’m doing. So again, I’m just trying my best here to make some really cool stuff happen. I’m throwing it out there. If it happens, it happens. I just need to trust my gut, and like my gut told me that I was gonna wrestle Kurt Angle, my gut is telling me that I have to give this everything that I’ve got.”

On if there’s any update on Eminem potentially appearing at Bound For Glory: ““I’m gonna choose my words extremely carefully here, alright. Oh, I gotta be careful with how I word this, man. I gotta be careful with how I word this. This is what I’ll say. What I’ve been doing is throwing things out there, having fun. That’s how all this started. Before there was the close relationship between TNA and NXT and me going over there, we were putting out things that teased me going there, and then those things you put out into the universe, some of them can eventually become a reality. So I will say this. I don’t know who’s gonna show up at Bound For Glory. But I will tell you this, the chances of Eminem showing up, I would say are higher now than when I first mentioned it. Let’s just say that.”
