As previously reported, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested yesterday in Las Vegas and charged with misdemeanor battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle. Speaking to reporters in a media scrum ahead of UFC 266 following Jones’ arrest, UFC President Dana White (via ESPN) expressed a lack of surprise over Jones’ latest legal incident.

Dana White stated on Jones, “It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas, for any reason. This city is not good for Jon Jones, and here we are again.”

He continued, “It’s not even shocking anymore. When we bring him here, it’s almost expected. We can’t even get him to Las Vegas for less than 12 hours and induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem. This guy’s got a lot of demons, man, a lot of demons.”

Jones was in town as his 2013 title bout with Alexander Gustafsson was inducted into the Fight Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame on Thursday (Sept. 23) at Park MGM. He last fought at UFC 247 in February 2020, beating Dominick Reyes by unanimous decision.
