Erik Perez Knows He Got Crazy Brawling With Francisco Rivera
Erik Perez spoke with MMAjunkie about his win over Francisco Rivera at UFC 201. Some highlights are below:
On engaging in a brawl with Rivera: “I got crazy in the third round. I got out of my mind, started doing a lot of hooks and made the fight crazy. But I loved to do that fight. I know I was winning the first and the second, and I’d get in trouble to throw these hooks, but it is what it is, I’m coming to fight. He was talking to me like, ‘Come on, come on, let’s start fighting.’ And I know that this is his fight. I know that this is his game. And I got in his game. But I got the takedown and I got the point.“
On trying to build a win streak: “Every fight in the UFC is very important. It’s very important to improve a lot, to keep winning. I don’t want to be that kind of fighter, win one, lose one, I want to be champion. I train with the champion. Dominick Cruz is my coach, and I want to be one day like him. I’d love to fight anybody in the top 15, I want to get in the top 10. I want to fight the best fighters in the world.“
