Georgi Karakhanyan Is Looking Forward to Some Three-Round Wars

December 4, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Georgi Karakhanyan spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Daniel Weichel at Bellator 147 and more. Check out the highlights:

On his physical condition: “I’m 30 years old, but my MMA career is pretty young I haven’t been in many wars. I’m looking in this next two years to get in some really big wars. I’m looking at three-round wars. If the knockout comes, I’m happy, but if it’s a three-round decision win for me I’m fine.”

On his previous injuries: “It was tough getting the title shot and then it didn’t go my way; it was just tough physically and mentally, but I got over it. The injury just happened because all of the years of training on my body. It was 12 years of soccer then 10 years of fighting. It took me a while to understand and what I have to go through as an athlete. This made me mentally very tough. Before I was tough, but right now it clicked something else in my mind.”

On his plan for Weichel: “I’m going to make him fight my fight and just go do my thing and look for a finish. You can’t improve your jaw. Any time you get in brutal wars, you lose a lot of brain cells. As a fighter, he’s improved, but to be in those wars is not good. His jaw is still questionable from too many wars.”

On a potential title shot: “I’m willing to fight anybody I don’t care if you have the belt. At the end of the day I’m doing this to be the best. I want to be the best featherweight. I don’t focus too much on the title. Right now, I have Daniel in front of me. If I beat him impressively, if I beat him the way I want to beat him, then if Scott Coker wants to give me a title shot I’ll be more than happy to take that. But if he wants me to fight somebody else, I’m willing to fight however they give me. I just want to be busy and have a busy 2016.”
