Henry Cejudo lost his Olympic gold medal during the Northern California wildfires and will face Sergio Pettis at UFC 218. Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz revealed both news pieces to MMAjunkie in a new interview.

“He woke up to the fire alarm, but he thought it was just a false alarm so he went back to sleep,” Abdelaziz said of Cejudo’s wildfire scare. “He woke up at 4 a.m. to his room being filled with smoke. He had no choice but to jump (from the balcony) on the second floor. He landed on some fire and burned his foot. He’s safe.”

Abdelaziz said that the damage wasn’t severe, describing it as “scabbing and blisters.” Cejudo was there to attend a celebrity fundraiser and was only able to escape with his cell phone. He was forced to leave the medal he won at the 2008 Olympics, some other awards, his iPad and more behind.

UFC 218 takes place on December 2nd in Detroit. The main card airs on PPV after prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
