– Joanne Calderwood recently spoke with mmajunkie.com about her flyweight debut at UFC Fight Night 89. Here are the highlights…

On Her Mindset Heading Into The Fight: “I’m just less hungry,” Calderwood said. “But hungry at the same time to get in there and fight. Obviously, I took it on seven weeks’ notice, so I didn’t want to be stressing about not getting my weight down and not being able to perform on the night. That’s the main thing for me. But last week and this week I’ve been feeling great. That’s because I’ve been able to eat. So, I have more energy and I’m more excited.”

On The Difference in The Weight Cut: “I’m kind of eating more than I would be to make strawweight,” Calderwood said. “That’s the main difference. It’s made me feel healthier, and I can train a lot more. My training is more effective.”

On Fighting Valerie Letourneau: “I expect the same fight every fight,” Calderwood said. “It’ll be the toughest and best that they can bring and just face whatever she brings and hopefully have the ‘Performance of the Night.’”
