Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger Hoping To Get First UFC Win On Saturday
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) spoke about showing she’s better than her debut fight against Tecia Torres would suggest. She took that fight on 14 days notice. Her next fight is Saturday at UFC Fight Night 89 against Randa Markos (5-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC). The event happens at the Arena at TD Garden in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It streams on the early UFC fight Pass preliminary card. Here are highlights:
On her UFC debut: “The UFC octagon is so much bigger in real life than it is on TV. I felt going in there the third round I was finally warming up and I was gaining some momentum. I landed a few good shots but I did have the UFC jitters. All that’s real life. … Now I know I’m prepared now. I know what to expect.”
On how she expects Markos to fight: “She’s going to come forward and try to push the pace. I just expect that it’s going to be a war. We’re both going to go in there and meet in the middle. We’ll see what happens, that’s what I’m feeling and we’ll see if she can keep up with my cardio.”
On her goals: “I will go in there, get this win then hopefully get somebody in the top-10. I want to be the champion, I want to fight for the belt and that’s why I’m here. I’m not just here to say, ‘I made it.’ I’m ready to do something, I’m ready to win. I see a second-round TKO. I don’t know if she could keep up with me, keep up with my pace and pressure and stuff like that.”
