Per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, a UFC featherweight title fight is currently in the works for UFC 240, with champion Max Holloway facing former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The fight card is set for Edmonton later this July.

According to the tweet, the bout is verbally agreed upon at the moment. The UFC has not yet officially announced the title fight. This fight was previously scheduled twice before. It was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 218 in December 2018, but Edgar had withdraw from the fight due to a hand injury. The fight was booked again for UFC 222 in March 2018. However, for that occasion, Holloway had to pull out due to an injury. Hopefully, the third time will be the charm here.

Max Holloway is coming off a decision loss last month to Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight title. Edgar last fought at UFC Fight Night 128 in April 2018, beating Cub Swanson via decision.

UFC 240 is set for July 27. The fight card will be held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the Rogers Place. The main card will be broadcast live on pay-per-view through ESPN+.
