TJ Dillashaw vs. Cory Sandhagen in the Works for July
ESPN reports that a bantamweight fight between former UFC champion TJ Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen is in the works for later this summer. Per multiple sources, UFC is targeting the fight for July 24.
Contracts have not yet been signed for the fight, but UFC is reportedly working on finalizing the bout at 135 pounds. The fight is expected to headline a UFC Fight Night card for July 24. A location and venue have not yet been announced for the fight card.
TJ Dillashaw was originally scheduled to face Sandhagen on May 8. However, Dillashaw suffered a cut near his eyebrow during training, and the fight was delayed as a result.
The former UFC champion is looking to bounce back after a January 2019 knockout loss to Henry Cejudo for the flyweight title. Dillashaw later failed a drug test for EPO (erythropoietin). He was then suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for two years. As a result, he was forced to relinquish his bantamweight title.
Meanwhile, Cory Sandhagen has won back-to-back fights over former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and former bantamweight title contender Marlon Moraes. He is currently 7-1 in the UFC.
