UFC Officially Strips Henry Cejudo of Title Following Retirement
It appears as if Henry Cejudo’s retirement will stick, at least for now, as he has vacated the UFC bantamweight title. As reported earlier this month, Cejudo announced his retirement following his win over Dominick Cruz to defend his bantamweight title at UFC 249. There was question over whether he would stick with the retirement, saying at the time that “I really do want to walk away, but money talks,” but MMA Fighting now reports that the UFC has vacated the title and removed him from both the UFC Flyweight Division rankings and Bantamweight Division rankings.
Cejudo posted to Twitter to re-emphasize his retirement on Monday as you can see below. In the post he thanks Dana White for “taking a chance” on him and adds, “Triple C is out.” He ends his career with a 16 – 2 record, 10 – 2 in the UFC with his only losses coming to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 197 and Joseph Benavidez at the TUF 24 Finale.
