Alec Baldwin took to Twitter to suggest that Donald Trump’s own tweeting was are presenting a threat to his and his family’s safety. The actor, who returned to Saturday Night Live over the weekend to portray the President in the cold open, was the subject of Trump’s ire on Twitter the next morning as suggested that Saturday Night Live and NBC were “the real collusion” and called media the “enemy of the people” once again.

That led Baldwin to respond, as he tends to do, rhetorically wondering “if a sitting President exhorting his followers that my role in a TV comedy qualifies me as an enemy of the people constitutes a threat to my safety and that of my family?” Ah, Twitter.

Trump has been accused of inciting his followers in various instances, notably the instance of Cesar Sayoc who mailed pipe bombs to several perceived Trump enemies. Trump condemned the attacks, but said that the media was responsible for creating the “endless hostility” that inspired Sayoc. He also said that the media was using the scare to score political points and has pointed to liberal individuals who have committed acts of violence as as an example that it is not an issue tied to him.
