Julie James is ready to spin around and scream “What are you waiting for???” again, as Amazon has given a series order to their planned I Know What You Did Last Summer adaptation. Amazon Studios has announced that the series will be a young adult adaptation of the 1997 slasher film, which starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. and spawned a lackluster sequel and straight-to-video threequel, the latter of which had none of the original cast.

The series is being executive produced by James Wan (The Conjuring) and Sara Goodman (Preacher), the latter of whom will write the show. It will follow in the steps of the film and follow a group of teenagers who are stalked by a mysterious killer one year after a fatal accident on their graduation night.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” said Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television at Amazon Studios. “Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favorite film.”
