Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow Canceled At The CW
Two of The CW’s Arrowverse series are no more, with the broadcast network cancelling Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries announced on Friday that the network had opted not to renew the series for a fourth season, while Legends co-showrunner Keto Shimizu dropped the news on the same day that the ensemble series would not get an eighth run.
Batwoman had a rocky road during its three-season run; star Ruby Rose exited after the first season ended, a move which led to considerable controversy particularly when she alleged last year that she experienced unsafe work conditions during her time which led to her on-set injury. Javicia Leslie took the helm as the new lead on the show for seasons two and three, playing a new Batwoman in Ryan Wilder.
Legends had a much longer lifespan, leaning into the wackier side of the Arrowverse with a large ensemble cast that included during its run the likes of Caity Lotz (White Canary), Brandon Routh (The Atom), Matt Ryan (Constantine), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), and many others. Lotz was the only original cast member remaining on the series in the now-final seventh season.
It is conceivable that any of the characters could end up appearing in the other, renewed Arrowverse shows including The Flash, Superman & Lois, and Stargirl.
