Candyman Star Tony Todd Passes Away At 69
Deadline reports that Tony Todd, a genre actor most famous for his role as Candyman, has passed away at the age of 69. Todd died on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. A cause of death was not revealed.
In addition to playing Candyman in the 1992 classic and its various sequels, Todd was a character actor who showed up in a variety of horror films and genre TV shows. He also appeared in Platoon, the Night of the Living Dead remake, The Crow, Wishmaster, Hatchet and more. He was also notably in the Final Destination films and will appear in the most recent entry, Bloodlines, which will arrive sometime next year.
He also made a variety of television appearances in everything from The X-Files and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to Smallville and Homicide: Life on the Street. Todd also had a distinctive voice, leading to him voicing characters like the titular villain of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Zoom in The Flash. That translated to video games as well, as he recent did the voice of Venom in Spider-Man 2 on the PS5. His voice will also be heard in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which arrives next month.
