Chris Messina to Play Victor Zsasz in Birds of Prey

Another Batvillain has been revealed for the upcoming Birds of Prey movie in Victor Zsasz. Deadline reports that Chris Messina (Argo, The Newsroom) is set to play the serial killer in the film. Zsasz will be working with Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), who is the primary villain in the film.

Victor Zsasz was created by Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle, and first appeared in Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1 in 1992. Zsasz was trhe head of an international corporation who lost everything after falling into a state of deep depression after his parents’ death in a boating accident. Due to a sequence of events, he becomes addicted to killing and covers his body with hash marks, one for each of his victims. He has appeared on Gotham, played by Anthony Carrigan, and also appeared in Batman Begins briefly.

Zsasz joins a cast that includes Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), and McGregor. Also cast in as-yet-unnamed roles are Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, and Matthew Willig. The film opens on February 7th, 2020.
