Producer Dan Lin Might Become The “Kevin Feige” Of DC Films & TV
Executive and producer Dan Lin — with credits on Aladdin, The Lego Movie, and the It films — is involved in conversations for the head role of DC Films (via The Hollywood Reporter). The position would have Lin reporting directly to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and taking oversight of both the film and television projects. This would effectively place control of DC-related film work in the hands of one individual, rather than the three separate heads who currently are involved in production oversight.
The incumbent chief of DC Films, Walter Hamada, would reportedly phase out of the position, although an inside source from Warner Bros. says that no official offer has been made to Lin as of yet. Other sources report that those involved are talking salary, reporting structure and what the move would mean for Rideback, Dan Lin’s production company.
If an agreement is reached, it would conclude one of the most massively intense executive searches in recent years. Zaslav had said he was looking for Warners’ own iteration of Kevin Feige, the noted executive with one of the most successful production records of all time who helmed Marvel’s movie franchises, and eventually its TV productions, building it into a massive force on the entertainment landscape.
