Netflix is losing its Marvel shows including Daredevil and Jessica Jones next month. Variety has confirmed that the two shows as well as Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders are all permanently leaving the streaming platform when February is over.

The rights of all the shows are reverting back to Disney, though there has been no announcement as to where they will end up. Disney has two streaming platform options in Disney+ and Hulu, and the company didn’t comment when asked by the outlet.

Netflix and Marvel began their partnership in late 2013 with the announcement of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist as well as the Defenders team-up series. Daredevil was launched first, in 2015, and ran for three seasons as did Jessica Jones. The remaining solo series got two seasons each before they were canceled in 2018 and 2019 as Disney pivoted to its own service in Disney+.

Charlie Cox reprised his role as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, marking the first appearance of the lead characters in the “proper” MCU (the Netflix shows were set in the MCU, but were liminal to the universe). Vincent D’Onofrio reprised his role as Kingpin in the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

There’s no word on when or if the characters will show up in future MCU content, but the departure of the shows from Netflix will certainly increase fan speculation.
