Last week, Dave Bautista was asked on Twitter why he wasn’t voicing Drax in Marvel’s What If series, which debuted on Disney+ yesterday. Bautista is one of a few Marvel actors not to return, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Zoe Saldana and Elizabeth Olsen. He simply said that he wasn’t asked. Not even James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, could believe it.

In an interview with Variety, Marvel executive producer Brad Winderbaum said that everyone was asked back in one way or another, but thinks there may have been a miscommunication.

He said: “I saw that, too. It’s my understanding that everybody was asked in some way, shape or form, either through their agents or directly. I don’t know really what happened behind the scenes there, but certainly, we would have loved for him to be in the show. So there’s probably some miscommunication somewhere.

Marvel’s What If…? is currently streaming on Disney+.
