Live-Action Forgotten Realms Dungeons & Dragons Series In the Works At Netflix

A live-action Dungeons & Dragons series is in the works at Netflix, set within the Forgotten Realms. Deadline reports that Shawn Levy is producing the series from Netflix and Hasbro Entertainment, with Drew Crevello set to write the show.
The series will be set in D&D’s most iconic setting and is titled The Forgotten Realms. That setting has been D&D’s core setting for much of its time and is home to characters like the wizard Elminster, the dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden and more. Crevello wrote the pilot and will showrun the series. He was previously set to do the same for a D&D series at Paramount+, but that show was abandoned following a shift in strategy at Paramount+ and an ownership change with eOne which was bought by Lionsgate. Deadline describes the originally-planned series as the initial incarnation of the current project.
It was noted that if the show is successful, it could launch a universe for the famed tabletop roleplaying game. No word on the plot as of yet.
Levy has a strong relationship with Netflix, being an executive producer on Stranger Things whose fifth and final season he is working on. He most recently co-wrote, produced and directed Deadpool & Wolverine for Marvel.
Dungeons & Dragons last saw an adaptation with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves in 2023, which was also set in the Forgotten Realms.
