Director Tapped For New Blair Witch Project Film
The latest entry in the Blair Witch Project franchise is moving forward, with The Offering’s Oliver Park set to direct. Bloody Digusting cites a report from Production Weekly noting that Park is set to direct the film, which was first reported in April of last year.
The film is reportedly hoping to begin shooting in the late summer of the fall. Lionsgate has yet to confirm the details on the film, which is reportedly set to be produced by Haxan Films who were behind the 1999 smash hit.
The original Blair Witch Project brought found footage horror into the mainstream consciousness and grossed $248.6 million worldwide against a budget of just $200,000 to become the most profitable movie of all time at that point. There have been two sequels since. The first, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, was rushed into production by Artisan Entertainment and was both a critical flop and commercial disappointment. The second was Adam Wingarde’s 2016 film Blair Witch, which received better reviews than Book of Shadows and was more profitable although it was still considered by many to have a disappointing return.
