According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Disney Channel has hired Sadie Stanley (Game Shakers) and Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs) to play Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable in the upcoming live-action film version of Kim Possible. The project begins filming this summer and will debut in 2019.

As the theme song notes, Kim Possible is your “basic average girl” who is “here to save the world.” She teams up with her friend Ron and his naked mole-rat Rufus to battle villains like Drakken and Shego. The animated series ran for 87 episodes and two animated films since its debut in 2002. It also won an Emmy. Stanley (16) won the role with her first-ever audition.

Disney channel senior VP casting and talent relations Judy Taylor said: “Sadie delivers Kim’s confidence, smarts, and agility; most importantly, she’s an everyday girl with an extraordinary spirit. Sean is such a magnetic actor; he always finds the right balance of physical comedy and heart. We’re excited for audiences to see Sadie and Sean bring these iconic roles to life.

Series creators Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley wrote the script with Josh Cagan. McCorkle and Schooley will also executive produce while Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky will direct and produce. You can see the announcement video with original stars Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle.
