Variety reports that the historical drama Ford v. Ferrari has now earned over $200 million worldwide, joining a list of non-blockbuster films pulling in blockbuster money. The film spent seven weeks in the top ten domestically, earning $106.6 million. Internationally, it did well in Russia ($10.1 million), France ($9.4 million), Korea ($9.3 million) and the UK ($7.9 million). It will debut in Japan next week (January 10) and it still has yet to get a China release.

The film was directed by James Mangold and stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale. It was one of the projects acquired by Disney after they purchased Fox. It received critical praise as well as commercial success, and could be up for awards soon.

The film follows the automotive team at Ford, led by designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and his British driver Ken Miles, as they try to build a car that can beat the Ferrari in the Le Mans race. It’s based on a true story.
