The Mandalorian is set to premiere its second season at the end of October, and Giancarlo Esposito says it sets the show up for a lot more further down the road. Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon on the Disney+ series, spoke with People during their Emmy Awards pre-show and hinted at the possibility of two more seasons yet to come.

“We’re living in a universe that is huge and there’s so much to explore,” Esposito said of the show. “So I think this show is going to lay the ground work for the depth and breath that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

The Star Wars series’ second season premieres on October 30th, having wrapped just before the pandemic forced an industry-wide production shutdown. The series stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Esposito, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, Emily Swallow and Omid Abtahi.
