Harvey Weinstein is the latest high-profile person to test positive for the novel coronavirus. TMZ reports that Weinstein has been confirmed as one of two inmates at Wende Correctional Facility, where he is currently located following his rape and sexual assault conviction, to test positive for COVID-19.

Weinstein was moved to Wende after being taken to Rikers Island after his conviction. It is not yet known when Weinstein contracted the virus; he has been in isolation since he was taken to Rikers and he reportedly has not had any contact with family or lawyers since he was diagnosed. Weinstein is considered to be in a very high risk category for serious systems, having been hospitalized a few times over chest pains and receiving cardiac treatment.

Outside of Wende Correctional Facility, there are an additional 17 inmates and 12 employees in New York state prisons who have coronavirus according to the New York Department of Corrections.

A representative for New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, who have custody of Weinstein, told the side, “With each confirmed case, DOCCS worked with the Department of Health to identify any potentially exposed individuals in order to provide notifications and to stop the spread of the virus.”

Several non-convicted high-profile people have also tested positive for the virus including Idris Elba, Daniel Dae Kim, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and several Senators including (announced on Sunday) Rand Paul.
