James Gunn Says Superman Filming Is ‘Getting Close’ To Complete
James Gunn recently gave an update on Superman’s production, noting that filming is “getting close” to being done. Gunn posted to his Threads account on Wednesday to note that the production has completed filming in Cleveland. When asked by a fan if he was wrapped with filming as a whole, he wrote:
“We are not done shooting. Still a couple weeks left. Just done shooting in Cleveland. And yeah it’s a long shoot… but we’re getting close!!”
The film began shooting in February and is the first film of the new DC Universe under Gunn and Peter Safran. Gunn is directing the film from his own script. David Corenswet stars as the titular superhero alongside Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Milly Alcock (Supergirl), Wendell Pierce (Perry White), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).
The film will release on July 11th, 2025.
