Debra Morgan is coming back into her brother’s life, as Jennifer Carpenter is set to return for Showtime’s Dexter revival. THR reports that Carpenter, who played Deb for all eight seasons of the original series, will be back for the 10-episode revival. Showtime declined to comment on the story.

It’s uncertain how Deb will return, as she was rather infamously killed off in the series finale, which Carpenter was actually adamant about wanting to have happen. Carpenter joins John Lithgow as characters returning to the dead in some capacity for the series revival, which sees Dexter (Michael C. Hall) living under the fake name of Jim Lindsay in a world away from Miami 10 years after the events of the series finale, in which he left Miami during a hurricane following Deb’s death and moved to Oregon where he was working as a lumberjack.

Lithgow worked on the revival for just one day — “in fact, one afternoon,” as he recently told Deadline. The series is considered a closed-ended revival according to THR that does continue the original series.

In addition to Hall, Carpenter, and Lithgow, the show will star Clancy Brown as the primary villain, Julia Jones as the town’s chief of police, Alano Miller as a sergeant/high school wrestling coach, Johnny Sequoyah as the chief’s daughter and Jack Alcott as Randall, someone with whom Dexter has a meaningful encounter. It is expected to premiere this fall on Showtime.
