Jim Lee Confirms DC Has No Plans To Continue The SnyderVerse
Don’t hold your breath for more SynderVerse films in the DCEU, because Jim Lee says they’re not in DC’s plans. Following the release of Zach Snyder’s Justice League, there was a contingent of fans who were hoping to see more films building off that continuity through Snyder instead of the DCEU’s current direction. However, Lee — who is the Publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics — said at San Diego Comic-Con that it’s not likely to come to pass.
“You know what’s amazing, is we spent two years in lockdown, and here we are back at a convention, celebrating the artform, feeling good,” Lee said at a panel (per The Marvel Maniac). “You know, I do — I work on the projects that are in development, right? And so, I think the Snyder Cut was Zack’s vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told. But there’s no plans for additional work on that material. So, I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it kind of was fun to see that stuff get out there because I did that years ago. And I actually thought it had been erased. But they had kept it in storage.”
The “Snyder Cut” was long sought after by DC fans following the failure of Justice League and finally released on HBO Max in March of 2021, containing Snyder’s sole vision for the film instead of the version Joss Whedon put together in the wake of Snyder’s departure due to a family tragedy partway through production. The four-hour film was the fourth-most streamed movie of that year.
