John Cena’s new film Vacation Friends is a big hit on Hulu, breaking records in its first weekend and earning a sequel. Deadline reports that the raucous comedy starring Cena, Lil Rey Howery, Yvonne Orji, and Meredith Hagner became the most watched original film on Hulu in its opening weekend.

As a result, Hulu has committed to a sequel, Honeymoon Friends, which will bring back the main cast as well as writer/director Clay Tarver and producer Todd Garner. The film stars Howery and Orji as a couple who go on vacation to Mexico, where they run into a wild, dangerous living couple in Cena and Hagner’s characters.

The film is produced by 20th Century Studios, the former 20th Century Fox studio that is now a subsidiary of Disney, and is a big boost for the studio as it’s rebuilding its producing schedule following its acquisition by the Mouse House. 20th Century has several films in the words that will stream as Hulu Originals in the US and Star Originals on Disney+ overseas. 20th Century is also riding high theatrically, with Free Guy bringing in some serious money in its first couple of weekends.

Vacation Friends is currently streaming on Hulu, and there is no release date set for Honeymoon Friends.
