Kevin Feige Denies He’s Asked Ryan Coogler To Direct Avengers: Secret Wars
Kevin Feige is excited to keep working with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever;s Ryan Coogler, but he’s shot down reports that Coogler is directing Avengers: Secret Wars. Feige recently spoke with Variety for a new interview promoting Wakanda Forever and was asked about rumors that Coogler will be directing the May 1st, 2026 MCU team-up film.
“Well, I would want Ryan to do anything at any time because he’s a singular talent and a great person to spend years with,” Feige says told the site. “But no, in all honesty, there’ve been no conversations. We’ve not spoken to him about Secret Wars.”
Feige did note that he’s had “conversations” with Coogler about a third Black Panther film and the two have pitched ideas “back and forth.” Secret Wars will conclude the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, with no talent announced for it at this time.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on Friday. You can check out our own Jeffrey Harris’ review of the film here.
