Kristen Wiig Leaves Apple Comedy Series Due To Scheduling Conflict
Deadline reports that Kristen Wiig has backed out of Apple’s upcoming comedy series due to a scheduling conflict with Wonder Woman 1984. The series currently doesn’t have a title but runs for a half-hour each episode. It is based on Curtis Sittenfeld’s short story collection You Think It, I’ll Say It. The series is now on hold as Apple and the producers look at other options like replacing Wiig.
Apple made a deal for the series in January, which will be produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. Wiig was set to star but will be playing Cheetah in the superhero sequel instead, as well as other projects. Apple is still high on the show, which was created by showrunner Colleen McGuinness, who will executive produce with Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. Sittenfeld will be a consulting producer.
