Marvel’s Jessica Jones recently debuted its third and final season on Netflix. While some fans are hoping the Marvel Netflix TV shows are all ending, star Krysten Ritter felt good about the ending for this season and expressed that she doesn’t expect to play the vigilante private eye ever again. Speaking to TV Line, Ritter said she doesn’t think she will again don the famous leather jacket of Jessica Jones.

Ritter stated on the acclaimed series, “Do I think I’ll play her again? I don’t think so. I feel like I’ve played her, you know? I feel really good about it. I feel good about closing the door.”

There has been speculation that the shows could possibly be brought back after the current Marvel and Netflix contracts expire later on, possibly through Hulu, which Disney now holds a controlling interest for due to the buyout of 20th Century Fox assets. It seems unlikely the shows would return on Disney’s new upcoming streaming service, Disney+, which CEO Bob Iger wants to feature generally family content, as the Marvel Netflix shows are all TV-MA and a lot darker and more adult than the MCU.

Additionally, it’s been reported that the original four Marvel shows on Netflix had a clause that keeps the characters from appearing in any non-Netflix shows or films for at least two years after cancellation. FYI, The Punisher is not part of the deal since it was not part of the original four-show deal (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist).

Also, series showrunner and creator Melissa Rosenberg added to the sentiment that the third season felt like a “closed chapter.” She stated, “I feel like this is a really complete, closed chapter. I mean, never say never. But I feel ready to tell all new stories.”

Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 3 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
